CHANEL N°5 PERFUME COMMERCIAL WITH AUDREY TAUTOU DIRECTED BY JEAN PIERRE JEUNET

The spot is beautifully shot on the Orient Express traveling to Istanbul with an intertwining of two destinies, on which Audrey is a passenger who keeps running into the same mysteriously beautiful man, played by Rodrigo Santoro.

The short film was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who worked with Tautou on Amelie. Filmed in a railway station in Nice and on the Bosphorus in Istanbul, it was inspired by a scene in the Oscar-nominated film A Very Long Engagement.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet says: I've always loved night trains and their magic: its the perfect opportunity to create an encounter in suspended time. I really liked the idea of a woman meeting a man. They both think about each other, but continue on with their own lives, left with the regret that they didnt make contact with the other person. I love to play with destiny and coincidences... I knew that the story would revolve around the mesmerizing effect of the scent in the womans wake. We had to give voice to the intangible. « Music by Billie Holiday »Im a fool to want you

One of the most memorable fragrance commercials of the last few years has to be Nicole Kidman for Chanel No. 5 -- it was romantic and beautiful and we could never bring ourselves to fast-forward through it. And now, we're ready for the newest short film from Chanel: Train de Nuit, starring Audrey Tautou.

Tautou is the perfect choice for this campaign for a number of reasons (some of which are outlined in the video below), but perhaps the most important (and obvious) is that she's portraying a young Coco Chanel in the upcoming biopic.

The commercial was released to the public on 5/5 2009 reflecting Chanel's superstitions regarding her lucky number. which is exactly 88 years to the day from when Chanel No. 5 itself was introduced.
